It's us against a fuckload of them. Let's show the universe that Shepard isn't the only one fighting.

You may be called a GM, but you are not in total control; this RP is focused on the players, so keep it focused on them. Your job is to poke them in the right direction.

Try not to have things affect players directly unless you think it would make for an interesting reaction. Everything that happens should be up to them most of the time.

You’re gonna have to either improvise maps or plan them ahead of time. Find a balance between succinct and detailed.

Combat needs to be handled with a set initiative order. This way everyone gets a piece of the action.

Out of combat, only do a GM post if a vital choice (like choosing a direction to go) is made by the players or NPCs show up or you feel they are taking too long.

Concerning combat. You barely control the baddies. Its up to the players to prose it up with the details on how they take them out. You can talk about what is targetting who and if the playes make a dumb mistake then feel free to hit them if they are in range. Keep it reasonable. We love our characters and want them to be badass and no one likes to die.

I hope I’m making sense.

If you create a NPC that you want to be persistent in the universe, you are in charge of them if anyone wants to interact with them. They aren’t full characters so don’t put too much focus on them. Actually, discuss any NPCs with me so we can work something out and get a list together. (like for mini missions outside of full missions)

For the most part do what you feel is right while keeping the focus on the players’ storytelling. (keep gm post very minimal).

You’re really just giving writing prompts for people, as GM you aren’t the star of anything.

[As we know Team Platinum has a GM leading them through their mission. I asked for volunteers last week and got one and I am volunteering myself:

Team Palladium: Praestrom
Team Iridium: Shepardshepard
Team Eezo:Loweryi

Edit:Eezo now has a GM.

I’ll have to check if Bitexe has added the guidelines and such before we actually get into it and if you have any questions just ask him.]

[Guys, please keep an eye on Team Platinum. This GM (Gamemaster) system will probably used with the other teams too. ONLY for missions, just to keep them running smoothly and give them some sense of direction plot-wise. One volunteer from each team would be preferable. Guidelines are being prepared but anyone who wants to volunteer, feel free to ask us or belovednarrator/bitexe any questions concerning the system or volunteering to be GM for your team. Please note that if you are chosen to be GM for your team, your character’s own importance and participation in the mission will drop significantly since player knowledge would be so great. Please get back to us, we’d love to hear what you think.]

[[We’ve been rather slack and forgetful with this RP and that’s terrible because it’s like our baby. Life has been a butt, people have gone on holiday. Shit happens. But we are sorry. Please forgive us and hopefully we can move forward with our first missions and get shit done! Also Kudos to Team Platinum ;D]]

Since the first missions have now been handed out take sometime (if you haven’t already) to think about the kind of weapons and armour you will be using. Keep it realistic to your class but even then, there won’t really be any restrictions there. Just don’t be silly. And keep it to 2 guns (And 2 mods per gun).

In the case of powers, you are able to choose 4. Same restrictions apply as before, keep it relative to your class please. You will also be given 30 skill points if you wish to apply skill points to your powers.

Put a some research into it. And also, pick things you know you will use, things you think your character would really use. The Mass Effect wiki is very helpful with information on classes and weapons.

Also, there is no current time limit on the mission since this us our first round, but if you have suggestions, feel free to make them.

Missions:

Team Iridium and Team Eezo:

Captain Alkaios and Commander Vogt, you are to gather and take your teams to Terminus Headquarters K5-102. Contact with them was lost three days ago. Expect hostiles. If there are survivors, assist them.

(When you guys get there it will seem empty at first, but there will be husks. Human husks, cannibals and marauders. There will be two survivors on the other side of the base. One is injured and they have a radio. You can contact them once you enter the base. Do your best to aid them but do not risk the lives of your team. Once you have assisted the survivors, comm the shuttle and get out of there. The base will not be able to be saved. An rp order would be good to set up, if you’d like. Or split the teams. Leaders decide.)

Team Platinum:

Commander Kyuril, The anti-aircraft gun on the base has been offline for a day. A new component is needed, one can be shipped to the base but it will take a week to get here. Please prepare your team to head to Terminus Head Quarters K5-106 to retrieve the component from there. The base has been empty since there was a core overload. Use caution; hostiles and danger of radiation poisoning present.

(The inside of the base is heavily radiated, entering it would be suicide. Instead, around the back, through the APC graveyard, is a maintenance ladder. Take that to the roof where the AA gun is located. The radiation on the roof is minimal but try not to linger. Make sure appropriate armour and helmets are equipped. Have someone retrieve the component from the gun. You may need to defend your team mate as they work from incoming hostiles. There will be human husks, cannibals and marauders. Once the component is retrieved, comm the shuttle to pick you up immediately.)

Team Palladium:

Commander Verus, a Cerberus scouting shuttle has been seen to the far east of the base. Take your team and investigate their presence. Retrieve any data and dispose of the team quietly. Do not let them contact reinforcements.

(They’ll have a makeshift base set up with a few terminals full of data. Retrieve the data after you dispose of the scout team. There will be centurions, combat engineers, turrets and one nemesis. Once the team is taken care of, take the shuttle back to the base.)

I was asked to do newsletters for THK and I’m not exactly sure how to go about getting them out there as spoiler free as possible, so I made another blog with everything under cuts.

http://galaxycomms.tumblr.com/

I dunno what you want to do with it from there, but yeah, just showing I actually got something done that I was asked to u_u

Jojo: I also added a link to the blog so you can access the newsletter whenever you like. Or just follow the blog. ;D

THK plot. The Council has set up ten bases on a planet in the terminus system, 100-109. Each base was a research facility that was converted into a makeshift military base. Each base is assigned a number of people, some aren’t even military. Out of the ten initially set up, 6 are still active:

  • K5-101
  • K5-103 (THK)
  • K5-104
  • K5-105
  • K5-109
  • K5-100

There is no information on the research conducted at THK. Though, there is a reason has been wiped. A few members of the team have noticed this detail and have made conclusions there’s something peculiar about the base. The Council has been trying to keep it under wraps – the less questions asked the better. The Terminus Headquarters K5-103 was actually an archaeological dig. Underneath the base is a rather large dig site and in the center of that is large Prothean Spire.

Basic plot outline so far: The Recon team discovers the elevator shaft down to the dig site sometime after the second set of missions. The elevator has been removed so the only way to get down is to repel down. And it’s a long way down. The dig site is quite cavernous, the spire sticking straight up in the middle of it. Makeshift but sturdy scaffolding circles the edge of the room, with small rooms with terminals situated on either side. The cavern itself is ten times bigger than the actual base.

The Science team begins investigations on it immediately. Everyone wants to know what the Council was researching and if it can aid in the war effort. And they eventually discover something big. Really big.

Mildly informal post, kinda rushed and filled with spoilers for Mass effect 3. Under the cut.
